Hildegart proved to be a prodigy, learning to read and write at the age of three and going on to study philosophy, law, and medicine. She was particularly drawn to the ideas of anarchism and feminism, which she saw as closely linked.
As Hildegart grew older, she became increasingly involved in feminist and anarchist activism. She wrote articles and essays for various publications, including the anarchist newspaper "La Revista Blanca." She also gave public lectures and speeches, advocating for women's rights and social justice.
Hildegart's relationship with her mother was intensely close, but also complex and often fraught.
Aurora was fiercely protective of her daughter and pushed her to excel academically and intellectually. However, she also exercised a high degree of control over Hildegart's life, limiting her social interactions and dictating her choices.
However, Hildegart's life took a tragic turn. Her mother, Aurora, who had always been very controlling, became increasingly possessive of Hildegart's growing independence.
On June 9, 1933, Aurora shot and killed Hildegart, claiming she did it to protect her from the outside world.
Hildegart was just 18 years old.

Aurora shot Hildegart four times, claiming that she had done so to prevent her daughter from being corrupted by the outside world.
Aurora's motivations for the murder are still debated among historians and scholars
Hildegart's story is a tragic reminder of the dangers of controlling behavior and the importance of respecting individual freedom and autonomy. Despite her short life, Hildegart left a lasting legacy as a passionate advocate for social justice and human rights.
The movie The Red Virgin (Spanish: La virgen roja; also known under the working title of Hildegart) is a 2024 drama film directed by Paula Ortiz from a screenplay by Eduard Sola and Clara Roquet starring Najwa Nimri and Alba Planas as respectively Aurora and Hildegart Rodríguez.
